Handrails for the stairwell sounded like one of the least interesting design choices for the new house. So far, however, the birch rails made by Brokenpress have consistently drawn some of the most positive comments from guests. They are simple but superb in a way that I think is reflective of this shop’s signature style. I’ve got bookcases from Brokenpress coming soon and can only hope that they match the quality of these excellent stair rails.

We had a fantastic experience with Brokenpress. We had a unique corner in our house that we couldn't find the right piece of furniture for. It had to be many things - store records (but ideally concealed) fit an oversize amp, hide our cable box and be agreat spot for a record player. After searching for months we found Brokenpress and they designed and fabricated the perfect piece that fit seamlessly into our decor. The bonus is the cord management, that is easy to access and keeps the area looking clean. The process was great that during it we asked them to make us an additional tower for record storage that fits perfectly into another corner in our house. Fabulous experience overall!

We had Alex design and build a set of built in bookshelves spanning an entire wall of our living room. During the design process, he listened to our needs and created several designs that gave us everything that we wanted.

The finished product was even better than we could have expected. Alex's attention to detail really shows. Not only is everything beautifully crafted, he also spent the time necessary to make sure that everything fit perfectly (which isn't easy in an older Chicago house). Great quality, excellent service! I hired Brokenpress Design for a custom rack build, with my hundreds of LPs in mind. Alex and his assistant, delivered and sat everything up in one afternoon.
